Eastern Europe Journal 8 months ago

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pressed on the importance of the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEEC) as a ‘historic initiative’ aimed at boosting regional connectivity and prosperity during a meeting with United Arab Emirates deputy prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday.
According to a statement from the MEA, PM Modi also extended warm wishes to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He expressed satisfaction with the frequent high-level visits and engagements, including the September 2024 visit to India by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which symbolised ongoing ties in bilateral relations.
Both leaders agreed on the need to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on areas such as technology, energy, and people-to-people connections. UAE foreign minister Al Nahyan discussed the situation in West Asia, and PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting peace, stability, and security in the region over the long term.
According to MEA, the prime minister thanked the leadership of the UAE for ensuring the welfare of the large and vibrant Indian diaspora in the UAE.
Taking to X, PM Modi said that both countries are committed to work towards peace, stability, and security in West Asia and the wider region.

“Happy to receive Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of the UAE, HH AB Zayed. India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is poised to achieve unprecedented heights. We are committed to working towards peace, stability, and security in West Asia and the wider region,” PM Modi said.
